RELATED: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Best Abilities, Ranked

Being an RPG game, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla features a wide variety of items that players can use at their disposal. Many areas of the game can also be considerably challenging. To combat this, there are a handful of armor sets in the game the players can wear to properly match their playstyle. Some of these armor sets are incredibly powerful and will help players make alliances and defeat Eivor’s enemies with style and valor.

Updated August 21, 2021 by Rhett Roxl: The release of a new expansion pack also marks the arrival of new useful items the players can collect and add to their arsenal. With the Siege of Paris DLC, the players are treated with two new armor sets.

Although it isn’t as many as most players would expect, the quality of these armor sets is more than enough. They are undoubtedly among the best the game has to offer and anyone who is playing the DLC should take the time to collect them.

17 Berserker Armor Set

The Berserker Armor set is incredibly cool-looking. Eivor gets to wear a bear’s head as a helmet, because why not? The only downside to this armor set is its accessibility. Players can get this as a free pack alongside the Gold or Ultimate edition of the game, or buy it in the Ubisoft store. It also randomly appears in Reda’s shop, but that is difficult to keep track of.

The armor offers a speed increase buff once the player’s health goes low. It also offers an increase in attack and armor. The Berserker Armor set is bear-aligned.

Increases Speed when taking damage until you Heal yourself (up to 5 times) Additional increase to Attack and Armor

16 Magister’s Armor Set

The Magister’s Armor set has a very sleek-looking design. It also has a ton of very useful buffs, but the only drawback is, they only get triggered at night.

While wearing this armor, Eivor gains a 15 point increase in melee damage and ranged damage. Once again, only at night. It’s such a shame that the buff is restrictive considering how great the armor set looks. The armor supposedly used to belong to a Hidden One member, who probably preferred to operate at night judging by the absurd buff restriction. The Magister’s Armor Set is a raven-aligned set.

Increase Melee Damage at night Additional increase to Ranged Damage

15 Galloglach Armor Set

The Galloglach Armor set has a decent Viking-centric design perfect for Eivor. It is not the best armor in the game, but it can be a decent companion to those who prefer a heavy melee approach instead of using stealth or ranged weapons.

The armor offers an increase in melee resistance upon successful enemy finishers. It also grants an additional increase to melee damage. The Galloglach Armor Set is a wolf-aligned set.

Increase Melee Resistance when hitting enemies with finishers Additional increase to Melee Damage

14 Raven Clan Armor Set

The Raven Clan Armor Set is Eivor’s default armor. Despite this, this armor set is more than capable of decently protecting Eivor throughout the game, if the player chooses.

This armor set increases the player’s armor stat when their health is low, making it the perfect beginning armor set. It also gives an additional increase in Critical Chance. Aside from this, the armor offers no additional buff. While players can complete the game from start to finish just with this armor, it is recommended to explore other options.

Increase Armor the lower your Health is Additional increase to Critical Chance

13 Huntsman Armor Set

Hence its name, the Huntsman Armor set is perfect for bow wielders and ranged attackers. While this type of gameplay is fun and offers extra challenges, it will ultimately hinder the player from experiencing the game’s ultimate potential. Thus, this armor set should only ever be used in the early stages of the game or during particular missions.

The armor set provides players an increase in ranged damage when hitting enemies from 20m away. It also gives an additional increase in speed. The Huntsman Armor set is a wolf-aligned set.

Increase Range Damage when hitting enemies further than 20m away Additional Increase to Speed

12 Reaper Armor Set

The entirety of the Reaper Armor Set can be bought Pierre, so acquiring it should be fairly simple enough. However, to purchase the items, the player will need to have enough Deniers, a new type of currency. The player can only collect Deniers by completing Rebel Missions.

Here is every piece of the armor set and how much they cost in Deniers:

Reaper’s Torso - 750 Reaper’s Helm - 450 Reaper’s Cloak - 450 Reaper’s Pants - 400 Reaper’s Bracers - Given for free automatically when the player reachers Infamy Rank 3.

The player will need a total of 2,050 Deniers and reach Infamy Rank 3 to complete the set. This set falls under the Way of the Raven and slows time for two seconds when spotted by an enemy. It also increases their health by 15%.

11 Thor’s Armor Set

The armor of the God of Thunder himself, Thor’s Armor set is very efficient in rendering enemies utterly defenseless. It allows players to really maximize their damage input while enemies remain helplessly stunned. This is the type of armor set players can use until the final areas of the game to remain strong and formidable.

This armor set provides players an increase in speed whenever an enemy is stunned. It also increases stun chance. The Thor’s Armor set is a bear-aligned set.

Increase Speed when stunning an enemy Additional increase to Stun

10 Mentor’s Armor Set

The Mentor’s Armor set gives any player a conventional “assassin look” they’ve gotten used to in the earlier games of the franchise. This amazingly designed armor set makes players a melee powerhouse and is perfect for powering through even the most tedious areas of the game.

This armor set increases the player’s attack after every critical hit. It also increases the player’s speed. The Mentor’s Armor set works incredibly well paired with dual wields and weapons with a high critical chance. The Mentor’s Armor set is a raven-aligned set.

Increase Attack after Critical Hits Additional increase to Speed

9 Hidden Ones’ Armor Set

The Hidden Ones’ Armor set is perfect for those who love the stealth gameplay mechanic. A real callback to the earliest Assassin’s Creed games, it has a very sleek and sharp design supposedly made for the highest-ranking Assassins in the Creed.

The Hidden Ones’ Armor set increases Assassination Damage when crouched and undetected for 10 seconds. Bow users will also love this armor set as it provides an increase in Headshot damage. The Hidden Ones’ Armor set is a raven-aligned set.

Increase Assassination Damage when crouched and undetected for 10s. Additional increase to Headshot Damage

8 Paladin Armor Set

Each piece of the Paladin Armor set is hidden inside a chest scattered all around Francia. Here are the locations of every single piece:

Paladin Chainmail - The set’s chest piece is located in Defender’s Rest in Paris. It is inside a guardhouse the player can open via an opening on the side of the building. Before getting to the guardhouse, the player will need to find a key to open the chest. The key is inside a chamber filled with enemies the player can enter via a ladder. Paladin Helm - The helm is in Pruvinis. It is inside a tower just northeast of Melun. At the base of the tower are explosive jars the player can trigger. This will open a section with another set of jars the player can also use to break another wall. Just inside is a chest that houses the helm. The key to the chest is just located inside this tower. Paladin Hood - The Paladin Hood is in a crypt in Lisieux. To enter the crypt, the player will need two keys. One is in the church’s bell tower, and the other is kept by a monk that lingers in the village. Once the keys are acquired, simply head to the crypt and continue on to find the hood. Paladin Pants - The pants are in a large tent in the northwest part of Melunois. The key to the chest is kept by a Goliath, so the player will need to defeat this massive enemy first to gain access to this armor piece. Paladin Bracers - Finally, the bracers are in the La Greve manor. The chest itself is inside a locked door the player can open by shooting it with an arrow from the second floor. The key to the chest is just on the balcony.

Equipping this armor set will increase the player’s melee damage, but an attack will also cost more stamina. It also gives them an adrenaline charge bonus and decreases stamina consumption for shield blocks.

7 Thegn’s Armor Set

The Thegn’s Armor set is, without a doubt, one of the best armor sets the players will ever stumble upon in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This armor set highly encourages the players to be offensive, the true Viking approach, and also encourages them to parry attacks more.

The Thegn’s Armor set offers an increase in Critical Chance after landing a successful parry. On top of that, it also offers an additional increase to Critical Chance. Attacking more and more while donning this armor will see the player’s critical hits grow, allowing them to defeat even the toughest enemies. The Thegn’s Armor set is a bear-aligned set.

Increase Critical Chance when parrying Additional increase to Critical Damage

6 Brigandine Armor Set

The Brigandine Armor set is the most perfect companion when it comes to dealing with a large number of enemies, which occurs a lot in this game. It is designed with close combat with multiple enemies in mind. Players will find this armor set extremely effective in raids and missions.

This armor set increases Eivor’s armor rating when surrounded by more than two enemies. It also offers an increase in melee damage. This is truly one of the best armor sets to don all throughout the game, right up to its completion. The Brigandine Armor set is a bear-aligned set.

Increase Armor when surrounded by more than 2 enemies Additional increase to Melee Damage

5 Iberian Armor

The following five armor sets were added in the Wrath of Druids DLC. To unlock all five, gamers will need to speak with Azar at the Trading Post in Dublin. Eivor will need to trade a series of items to level up Dublin Renown, unlocking the various sets of armor for purchase. A fast way to get the resources is by completing the Royal Demands missions which are marked by a birdhouse symbol on the map.

At level one, players can purchase the Iberian Armor. The set provides three impactful buffs. Attacking after a dodge grants more damage, and Eivor will have higher melee damage and Evasion while wearing the armor.

Increase Attack (+15) after a dodge Additional increase to Melee Damage (+10) and Evasion (+15)

4 Egyptian Armor

At Dublin Renown level 2, Eivor can purchase the Egyptian armor set. Players will receive an increase to attack damage during daytime and a stacked melee buff. The Egyptian armor increases fire build-up resistance as well.

In terms of appearance, the Egyptian armor is not that impressive. The color scheme and mask look a little ridiculous for a Viking. Still, the set is a viable option in Wrath of the Druids.

Increase Attack (+15) during the day Additional increase to Melee Damage (+10) and Fire Build-Up Resistance (+15)

3 Rus Armor

By level 3 Renown, the Rus armor set will be available for purchase. It is by far the most appropriate Norse outfit of the five new sets. The traditional Viking look suits Eivor. When equipped, the armor can increase attack damage by 20 if Eivor is surrounded by five or more enemies.

The set is incredible at controlling crowds and eliminating multiple targets at once. For aggressive playstyles, the Rus armor is one of, if not the best in the game. Armor and Melee Resistance bonuses make the set even better.

Increase Attack (+8) when surrounded by three or more enemies Additional Attack (+12) bonus when surrounded by four enemies Additional Attack (+20) bonus when surrounded by five enemies Additional increase to Melee Resistance (+10) and Armor (+10)

2 Byzantine Armor

The Byzantine Armor is not the most popular choice among the new sets. Most players prefer offensive buffs over defensive ones, especially for the DLC quests. However, armor, health, and melee damage buffs do have a noticeable effect in-game.

Plus, the Byzantine armor looks awesome, which is usually the primary motivation when grinding to unlock outfits in Assassin’s Creed. The set is certainly one of the best in the game despite being a defensive option.

Increase Armor (+15) for 6s after a Critical Hit Additional increase to Melee Damage (+10) and Health (+20)

1 Dublin Champion Armor

The final DLC armor set is rewarded after finishing all of the trade contracts. The Dublin Champion armor is the best archer set in the game. It increases both ranged and stealth damage. Both of the abilities in the set stack for maximum bonuses of +20 in each category. No other ranged armor in Valhalla has comparable benefits.

The Trading Post grind is worth the effort because of how dominant the Dublin set is.

Increase to Ranged Damage (+20) and Stealth Damage (+20)
