For those players that may be having trouble finding the Derelict Shrine of Camulus Keys in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, this guide is here to help. With the proper information in hand, finding the requisite keys is a breeze.
Updated December 19, 2021 by Stephen LaGioia: AC Valhalla’s appeal largely comes in exploring the vast lands of England and Norway – along with regions added via ambitious DLC packs – while finding goodies and building Eivor’s strength. In typical Viking fashion, progression and power partly come from nabbing resources to build one’s settlement as well as strengthen weapons and armor.
With the ever-expanding slew of upgradeable gear, one can never have too much Nickel Ingot, which is used for this purpose. With players continuing their epic Viking journeys into the recently-added Ireland, Asgard, Paris, and the Isle of Skye, it seemed fitting to revisit and reinforce this Derelict Shrine Wealth guide.
Where Are The Derelict Shrine Keys?
As mentioned earlier, in order to crack open the loot chest and obtain that Nickel Ingot, players must first secure each of the two Derelict Shrine Keys, which are located in separate areas, but are fairly close to one another and to the loot itself. These can be found in an area with Roman-era ruins within the western-central region of Oxenefordscire. The name of the location is the Derelict Shrine of Camulus. The Wealth itself is marked on the map above with the ingot icon, while the area marked just to the north is where players can find the first key.
With respect to the First Derelict Shrine of Camulus Key, it resides within a structure just north of the building that houses the Wealth. To get inside, players just need to climb on top of the structure and grab the explosive container that is found there. The area is adorned with an archway and a caged-off entrance, where players can see the location of the key and some loot through it. Once the explosive jug is in hand and positioned at the breakable area of the roof, toss it on this area and drop through the hole that was left by the explosion. Finally, loot the key from the small vessel on the ground.

For the Second Derelict Shrine of Camulus Key, players should turn their attention to the stone columns that are very near to the Wealth itself. Using Odin Sight in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla when near to these columns will reveal that there is a key on top of one of them Grab the key, before making the careful descent back to the ground.
For more information, players can also view this video, which shows the precise location of both keys, and how to obtain them.
The Loot Chest Awaits
With both keys in hand, players should now make their way to the gold ingot icon on the map in the Shrine of Camulus nearby. Enter through the crevice between the two large stone columns. Head towards the chest, and be ready to deal with a couple of pesky snakes in Eivor’s path. In terms of what players will find inside of this chest, the reward is, as mentioned, the coveted Nickel Ingot. This material plays a part in upgrading gear in AC Valhalla from Superior to Flawless, and it is thus quite desirable.

Other Loot And Events Near Derelict Shrine Of Camulus
Players looking to power up Eivor’s armor should go for this Wealth, as both the fighting and general danger are usually small here, and the payoff is large.
As a side note: there are of course many other Nickel Ingots to find in this massive ARPG in general. Indeed, this Wealth includes 30 chests in Asgard alone – each of which contains a Ymir’s Tear Stone, and much more. Fans can feel free to skip the one at the Derelict Shrine of Camulus if they do not need any more of them, as there will be no shortage of other ones throughout Eivor’s journey.
In fact, there are even a few more points of interest near this immediate area. This segment will touch on the extra loot in and around the Derelict Shrine:
Treasure Chest 1
Head back just to the north and a bit west of the Derelict Shrine of Camulus. Players will find a few treetops with wooden platforms, along with a rope extending across them. Climb atop the tree which has the rope extending downward and ride the rope across. A loot chest with Iron Ore and Leather, as well as some arrows can be found here.
Treasure chest 2
Now head a bit to the east, back to the structure that housed the first key. Assuming this chest wasn’t looted already when getting the key – fall back down through the destroyed hole in the roof. Drop into the small room and loot the chest, which holds more Iron Ore and Leather.
Mysteries
North of Derelict Shrine of Camulus, players can find the first Mystery involving a World Event: The Last Raid. Once again, Eivor can use Odin’s sight to pinpoint the location of this event. Seek out Alvar and speak to him, and he’ll have you gather Ore, Fish, and Arrows, which triggers the next part of the quest – slaying wolves.
The second Mystery near the Shrine of Camulus can be found in the Southwest, and it’s called: Nostalgia. Players will find a farmhouse and a farmer who seeks only help with moving grates and listening to his story. This is a more passive quest, but one worth completing given how simple it is.
These are just two of the 10 Mysteries and 22 Wealth players can find in Oxenefordscire, but they are the closest to this region.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia.
