It remains to be seen, but Ubisoft has outlined Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s future pretty well. It is getting a roguelike game mode called The Forgotten Saga sometime this summer, and a final chapter of free content before the end of this year. There’s a lot to look forward to, it seems, but there’s still a lot to be discovered too. For example, one AC fan recently found a cool Easter egg for AC Origins’ Bayek and Aya in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

As pointed out by Redditor veico_cm, there appears to be a reference to Bayek and Aya’s Bathhouse scene in AC Valhalla’s Lunden. Many may recall that the Hidden Blade is gifted to Bayek by Aya, who then uses it to assassinate the Snake in a bathhouse in Alexandria. Afterward, the lovers spend an intimate night together on top of a building before Bayek goes on to assassinate other members of the Order of the Ancients and Aya begins her work for Cleopatra.

In Lunden, there appears to be an old Roman building that shares a striking similarity to the one that Bayek and Aya appear on. There appears to be some pillows, hay, flower, and cups here that are also reminiscent of the Bayek and Aya scene, but what really seals the deal is a nearby door. Players are able to find a key in this location, called the Lovers House Key, that opens said door.

While this could be a coincidence, it does seem likely to be a nod toward Bayek and Aya. It’s perhaps even more easily noticeable by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players who have taken to playing the 60 FPS PS5 and Xbox Series X AC Origins upgrade that was recently released. Some gameplay of this was also featured during the recent anniversary broadcast, and it has many hopeful for the future.

Alongside the various aforementioned projects, many fans hope this is a sign of another Assassin’s Creed crossover story between Kassandra and Aya. The crossover between Odyssey and Valhalla, with Kassandra meeting Eivor, was perhaps some of the best-received content for AC Valhalla so far, and many are hoping to see Kassandra meet Aya at some point. For now, it’s unknown if the recent upgrade was the last stop for AC Origins.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
