Astroneer: How to Get Malachite
Players that are in the early-stages of Astroneer, and have not yet left the starting planet, should focus their hunts for Malachite on the snowy mountains. Indeed, these areas are quite easy to access with some tethers, and they are one of the few spots where the natural resource of interest can be found. Upon arriving at a mountain, fans of survival video gams should be on the lookout for green-and-brown crystals extending from the snow, as these are the nodes from which Malachite can be extracted.

To note, there are a couple of other locations where Malachite can be obtained, though players will not have access to them as immediately as the aforementioned snowy mountains. One of those locations is deep underground on the starting planet, and fans must go below the layer where they can find Laterite in Astroneer. A great deal of Malachite can also be found in the caves of Calidor, though players may not reach that planet for quite some time.
It is also worth mentioning that fans can exchange Scrap for Malachite at the Trade Platform at a rate of one-to-one. In fact, players can use this module to obtain many resources in Astroneer, though they may want to be a bit thoughtful about how they use their Scrap. Indeed, while Malachite can prove to be a bit elusive, fans of crafting video games that are persistent can absolutely find enough of it without ever resorting to the use of the Trade Platform.
Astroneer: How to Make Copper
Regardless of how a player gathers their Malachite, they should make their way to the Smelting Furnace when they have some in hand. This module is used to refine many natural resources, including Clay in Astroneer, and it will transform Malachite into Copper very quickly. Players will then be free to use the Copper in their crafting, or they can instead set out into the world in search of adventure and more important resources.
Astroneer is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
