Asus is a Taiwanese computer and smartphone manufacturer. In terms of sales, the company is the fifth-largest PC vendor in the world, but it also produces popular hardware components, perhaps most famously motherboards and peripherals. TUF Gaming is Asus’ gaming product series under which it makes various products, including WiFi routers, motherboards, GPUs, keyboards, headsets, and monitors. It is a sister brand to the gaming brand Republic of Gamers but is specifically designed to offer durable equipment for gamers.

The Asus TUF Gaming VG279Q1A is a 27-inch gaming monitor which has support for 144 and 165 Hz refresh rate modes. The Full HD (1920 x 1080) panel is created with In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology, which allows it to reproduce better colors than traditional VA panels, which are often used in lower-tier gaming monitors. With the Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) technology, on the other hand, Asus makes sure that the monitor provides a fast response rate without ghosting and tearing with high frame rates.
The monitor has support for both Adaptive-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium, which allows smooth gameplay even when the frame rate is not optimal. The latter requires a FreeSync-compatible graphics card, and the former an NVidia GPU from GTX 10 onwards. In terms of connectivity, the monitor features a DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 1.4 ports. It also comes with both cables. If all this sounds good, the Asus TUF Gaming 27-inch gaming monitor for $243.90 is worth considering.
